In 1952, a single line of tents, sleeping bags and quilted coats were made in a little snow-capped town in France called Monestier-de-Clermont. The truncated adaptation Moncler would end up one of the foremost producers of high-quality functional outdoor clothing, footwear and accessories within the world. Mountain climber Lionel Terray found that Moncler coats were resilient enough to ensure wearers against the cruel climate conditions and in 1968 the French alpine ski group debuted a new streamlined, lightweight down coat for the Winter Olympics in Grenoble. This coat would become the forerunner to the signature Moncler coat that remains a best-seller to this day.
